Kiewit is one of the world's largest construction companies. In 2022, they began a five-year expansion of the Gross Dam Reservoir in Colorado. In 2023, they brought us on for what became three campaigns across two years.
Kiewit's model moves team members to a new job site every few years. At the start of each project, crews need time to settle in, build trust, and gel as a team. The work is demanding with hazardous conditions, hard deadlines, long hours, and often far from home. The job asks a lot of every crew, so we crafted a video strategy to address their needs.

Campaign One: Morale
Our first contract was designed to build the team up: a paid day off, a site-wide BBQ, and an ALOC video made to ease the transition and build excitement for the job ahead.
Campaign Two: Training
With a growing crew and workers rotating through the project, training hours were stacking up fast. Kiewit brought us in to produce a ten-part training series on concrete production, placement, and compaction. We spent over two weeks on site with the Gross Dam crew, capturing every step of the process. The series now delivers the exact methods and safety protocols their leads use to teach new employees, except the videos are more consistent and deliver the same message every time, at a fraction of the training hours.
Campaign Three: Orientation
The final project: two videos that play at every orientation. One covers the stats and story of the Gross Dam Reservoir; the other is entirely focused on safety.
Hard hats, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses are far from ideal for video production, but we left understanding why Kiewit is one of the biggest and best construction companies to work for in the US. They take care of their people, and they go the extra mile on safety.
